[October 28, 2025] — Seabound, a portfolio company of lomarlabs, the venture lab of one of our maritime subsidiaries, Lomar Shipping, was recently featured in the Norrsken Impact/100 list, recognizing the world’s 100 most promising early-stage impact startups driving meaningful change. This year’s Norrsken’s Impact/100 were selected from 1,400 nominated companies based on their potential for scalable, positive impact.
Seabound develops carbon capture technology that can be installed on the funnels of large cargo ships, with the potential to capture up to 95% of CO₂ emissions directly from their exhaust.
As part of Lomar and Seabound’s collaboration, last year, they successfully completed a series of sea trials of Seabound’s carbon capture system on board a Lomar vessel, which demonstrated the feasibility of capturing CO₂ at ~80% efficiency. A first-of-its-kind collaboration between Seabound, STAX Engineering, Associated British Ports (ABP), and lomarlabs is currently underway to integrate Seabound’s carbon capture technology with the STAX emission capture and control system at the Port of Southampton, supported by funding from the UK Government’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition (CMDC6).
Since its launch in 2023, lomarlabs has collaborated with ~10 transformative deep-tech companies to accelerate maritime innovation. By providing physical infrastructure, industry insights, and expertise, lomarlabs helps reduce risks and supports the commercialization of groundbreaking solutions.
