St. Johns Ship Building Advances Multi-Year Infrastructure Improvement Plan

St. Johns Ship Building announces the receipt and commissioning of a new 100-ton Link-Belt rough terrain crane secured through a MARAD grant.

[November 10, 2025] — St. Johns Ship Building, a leading Jones Act shipyard and a subsidiary of Americraft Marine, announced the receipt and commissioning of a new 100-ton Link-Belt rough terrain crane, secured earlier in the year through funding provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) Small Shipyard Grant Program.

This funding represents a critical investment for St. Johns and its multi-year infrastructure improvement plan to continue modernizing its operations and improving production capabilities as it supports a growing pipeline of both commercial and government vessel programs.

The Small Shipyard Grant Program selected 17 recipients across 12 states. The program is part of a broader initiative by MARAD to revitalize U.S. shipyards, enhance workforce training, and support advanced manufacturing technologies.

According to MARAD, “America’s small shipyards are a strategic asset and are critical to national security and economic vitality. Employing more than 100,000 Americans, these shipyards are fundamental engines of local job growth and have unique capabilities, from custom vessel development to specialized repair services.”
