[November 24, 2025] — Lomar Shipping, one of Libra Group’s maritime subsidiaries, has reaffirmed its commitment to developing the next generation of global shipping talent by announcing the latest recipients of the Achim Boehme Scholarship for the current academic year.
Launched in 2021, the scholarship honors Achim Boehme, Lomar’s former CEO and an inspirational industry leader who passed away in 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. His meaningful legacy lives on through this scholarship, which provides financial support to promising students pursuing maritime studies.
Lomar is supporting two scholars from HSB Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences, Jinky Pagilagan from the Philippines and Lennart Jacob Bünemann from Germany, as they advance their academic and professional journeys in international shipping. Through this scholarship, students gain both financial assistance and professional opportunities that strengthen their career paths into the maritime sector.
Lomar CEO Nicholas Georgiou said: “Through our scholarship we are offering financial and professional support that we hope will enable both students to become our industry leaders of the future. Their progress represents exactly what the Achim Boehme Scholarship stands for: a blend of hard work, talent, curiosity, and a genuine passion for shipping.”
