Fifth Concordia Americas Summit takes place online

The fifth Concordia Americas Summit has taken place this week, this time completely online and involving hundreds of international participants via digital platforms.

The event brought together world-renowned political leaders, business innovators, global non-governmental representatives, and impressive young minds to tackle the toughest issues and the biggest opportunities facing the Western Hemisphere. A fully-digital experience allowed for a diverse range of programming and networking.

The summit announced the US Colombia Growth Initiative, in which the Colombian Government and the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) will work closely with the support of the private sector to combat coca production in Colombia and strengthen the economy

Colombia’s President Iván Duque Márquez commented: “The relationship between Colombia and the United States has been a success story because it has been bipartisan, because it has been bicameral, and because it is based on shared principles”.

Libra Group EVP, Energy, Camilo Patrignani participated in the Strategic Dialogue session ‘Local Perspectives – Smart Cities on the Climate Frontlines’, exploring the need for cities to seek sustainable practices at the forefront of climate change, and with increased urgency due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Conducted in Spanish (with English translation), it considered ways in which technology can support key practices to formulate policies that create smart and sustainable cities. The ‘regional voices’ representing different sectors looked at how the dissemination of new technologies can be supported and encouraged around the future of cities throughout the region. This included technology on the frontline of tackling climate change and advancing clean energy innovation everywhere.
