The HOME Project

Providing shelter and support for refugee children.

In 2016, Libra Group announced its participation as a partner in the White House’s call-to-action for private-sector engagement in the global refugee crisis. We proudly joined with other companies in marshalling a blend of expertise, resources, and entrepreneurial spirit to help refugees regain control over their lives and integrate into their new communities. Executive Chairman George Logothetis joined other private- sector leaders at a roundtable event chaired by United States Secretary for Commerce, Penny Pritzker, and attended by President Barack Obama at the UN.

The HOME Project (THP) was established shortly thereafter to care for unaccompanied refugee children in Greece whose families and lives were wrecked by war and persecution, empowering them to persevere and grow into active citizens. THP rescues children from the streets, camps, police stations, and detention centers and welcomes them into the safety of THP shelters in Athens.

The HOME Project has 14 shelters where 1,000 children have received services. More than 170 jobs have been created, and the staff are largely made up of refugees and other Greek youth.
