Partnering for Social Impact
Concordia is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to actively fostering, elevating, and sustaining global cross-sector public-private partnerships for social impact. The tenth anniversary of 9/11 in 2011 prompted friends and business partners Nick Logothetis, vice chairman of the board of Libra Group and chairman of the board of Concordia, and Matthew Swift, CEO of Concordia, to co-found the organization in order to convene various stakeholders around the importance of collaboration in combating extremism. Since then, Concordia has led a global community – including heads of state, leaders of industry, policy experts, and thought leaders and visionaries – committed to nonpartisan dialogue and developing collaborative, inclusive solutions that address critical world issues and transform conversation into action.
Each year, Concordia hosts its Annual Summit in New York that convenes thought leaders to hold intimate and thought-provoking conversations around building effective public-private partnerships. This leading global affairs forum takes place alongside the UN General Assembly.
Previous speakers at the Annual Summit include former U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, as well as Vice President Joe Biden. The summits have also hosted Colombian President Iván Duque Márquez; Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres; President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde; and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. Representatives of the private sector have included Berkshire Hathaway Chairman,Warren Buffet; former Coca-Cola Chairman Muhtar Kent and investigative journalist Bob Woodward.
Complementing the Annual Summit is a series of strategically located Regional Summits that examine localized challenges and spur partnerships. To date Concordia events have brought together 4,000 attendees, including 77 world leaders, from 100 countries at summits annually.
Libra Group was instrumental in catalyzing Concordia’s launch, leveraging its global platform to gather thought leaders and providing the organization with its initial seed funding. George Logothetis, executive chairman of Libra Group, is the chairman of Concordia’s Leadership Council. Libra Philanthropies continues to be a steadfast funding and programming partner to Concordia today.
