AUEB announces Libra Group Fellowship recipients
Athens University of Economics and Business has announced the first scholarships within the Libra Fellowship Programme which provides funding for students on the university’s postgraduate Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme. The initiative was established with financial support from the Libra Group, an international business group with 30 subsidiaries active across six continents. It is one of the Libra Group’s global responsibility and educational initiatives, many of which have been focused on Greece and the Greek diaspora during the country’s current social and economic crisis.
The Libra Group has made a commitment to 25 scholarships per annum over the next five years. Each student is selected strictly on merit and receives a fellowship award which contributes to their tuition fees. The fellowships are open to students on both the full-time and part-time MBA courses, following the successful completion of all courses in the first and second semester of the MBA programme. The first-year students of the full-time and part-time programme who were selected as fellows have now been announced.
“Investing in education and, through that, the improvement of human capital is of a great importance for individuals, firms and any country. Education produces a labour force that is more skilled, more adaptable to the needs of a changing economy and with better productivity” said Professor George Kouretas, Director of the MBA programme. “Educational benefits hold an inestimable value to any economy and this programme aims precisely at investing in the much-needed skills to foster economic growth in Greece after the deep recession and its negative effects over the last five years. We welcome the partnership very much.”
