Partnering for Social Impact
The Libra Group is the founding sponsor of Concordia, an organization seeking to create social impact by building public-private partnerships around pressing global issues. As equal parts convener, campaigner, and idea incubator, Concordia is creating a new model for how a nonpartisan, nonprofit can have a global impact.
Enhancing the way global citizens approach the world’s greatest challenges."
Each year, Concordia hosts its Annual Summit in New York that convenes current and former world leaders, executives from top global corporations, and leading nonprofit organizations to provide an intimate and thought-provoking conversation around the important elements of building effective public-private partnerships. The first Concordia Annual Summit in 2011 focused on strengthening the relationship between the public and private sectors to more effectively combat global extremism. Key participants included former U.S. President George W. Bush, former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski.
The second Annual Summit in 2012 included a presentation by Senator John McCain who drew on his significant experience to offer thoughts on the nature of partnership and its strategic value in the modern world. A highlight of the conference was an extensive Q&A session with President Bill Clinton that explored his views on world affairs. The 2013 Annual Summit focused on 'investing in youth' and discussed how public-private partnerships could play a role in empowering the next generation of global citizens, while the 2014 Summit focused on 'scaling proven solutions through collaboration.' The 5th anniversary of the Annual Summit in 2015 convened nearly 1,000 participants, including 10 heads of state and government, 106 C-suite executives, and 122 members of the media with the keynote address given by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
The 2016 Annual Summit convened over 2,000 participants and introduced Concordia’s Strategic Dialogue format, featuring high-level discussions on the future of Europe, the private sector’s role in achieving the SDGs, and the refugee crisis. The 2017 Summit will take place on September 18-19, and be preceded by our first Regional Summits on international soil in Bogotá, Colombia and Athens, Greece.
