The opportunities presented by renewable energy and cleaner forms of conventional energy are part of the Libra Group's core focus. In Greece our subsidiary, EuroEnergy, has built a network of grid-connected solar energy generating parks and has recently entered a joint venture to develop a series of biogas production facilities in Latvia. Meanwhile in the USA in 2010 we took our first steps in the burgeoning biofuels market with the acquisition of a company involved in the industrial-scale production of fuel pellets derived from a variety of renewable resources.
We see solar and wind energy in the southeast Mediterranean as an attractive and viable source of both revenue and capital growth in the short to medium term. EuroEnergy has begun investing in wind farms in addition to its solar energy parks. The company has also opened an office in Latvia where it is developing six biogas production plants.
