The opportunities presented by renewable energy and cleaner forms of conventional power are part of the Libra Group's core focus. In Europe, we have built a network of grid-connected solar energy parks, wind farms and biogas production facilities.
Meanwhile in North, Central and South America, Greenwood Energy is involved in solar power investment and development, waste-to-energy and a range of other clean power generation systems. Greenwood's fuels division takes a wide variety of industrial waste to repurpose into burn-ready fuel pellets with lower emissions yet the same properties as coal. It has installed clean power generation technologies such as fuel cell and combined-heat-and-power plants in hotels, university campuses and other public buildings in the USA.
More recently Greenwood has invested in solar parks and created an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) division serving the solar energy sector.
In January 2014 Greenwood Energy announced that John Hancock Life Insurance and the Libra Group would lead equity financing for the construction and operation of multiple solar power stations across the United States. Our renewable energy facilities have a combined generating capacity of 370MW and our project pipeline exceeds 3 GW.
